Event Navigation
Weber State University theatre program will present a production of “The 39 Steps,” a two-time Tony Award winning play based on the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name, beginning Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Val A. Browning Center Eccles Theater.
A tribute to Hitchcock, “The 39 Steps” packs espionage, plane chases, murder and romance into a thrilling comedic adventure. The play follows the story of Richard Hannay; an ordinary man, down on his luck, who becomes entangled in a series of high-stakes escapades.
The play has garnered several awards, including two Tony Awards, one for Best Lighting Design in a Play and one for Best Sound Design in a Play; and two Drama Desk Awards, one for Outstanding Lighting Design and one for Unique Theatrical Experience.
Complete with costume changes and dialogue, a cast of only four actors plays over 100 characters in this fast-paced tale.
The production will run Feb. 21-22 and 26-29 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Feb. 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at weberstatetickets.com or at the Browning Center box office, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for seniors/military and $8.25 for students.
