Ogden High Theatre kicks off its 2017-2018 Season with Robert Harling’s play, Steel Magnolias, December 4-9 in the Ogden High School Black Box Theater.
Steel Magnolias is Harling’s first play and was inspired by the death of his sister Susan, who died of complications from diabetes. Steel Magnolias is a mix of comedy and drama, focusing on the friendship of six Southern women (delicate as magnolias and yet strong as steel) who talk, gossip, tease, and help each other through the best and worst of times.
The play originally premiered off-Broadway at the WPA Theater in 1987, then quickly transferred to the Lucille Lortel Theater and ran for three years on Broadway. It also became the hit 1989 movie, starring Sally Field and Julia Roberts as M’Lynn and Shelby Eatonton.
Ogden High Theatre’s run of the show is December 4-9 in the Ogden High School Black Box Theater at 7:00 pm. Tickets may be purchased at the door starting at 6:15 pm; with theater doors opening at 6:30 pm. Cost per ticket is $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors, students, and children.
