Mark Hasara is a retired United States Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and author of the book Tanker Pilot: Lessons from the Cockpit, published on November 2017. As a KC-135 Instructor Pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Hasara participated in four air campaigns: Desert Storm, Allied Force over Kosovo, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. He was also a member of the KC-135 Weapons Instructor Course Initial Cadre, creating the world’s only graduate-level education in all aspects of air refueling.
Eight days after 9/11, Hasara began a series of deployments to the Middle East. While there, he flew missions and acted as Chief of the Air Refueling Control Team at the Prince Sultan Combined Air and Space Operations Center. In this capacity, he managed all air refueling events during Operations Anaconda, Southern Focus, and Iraqi Freedom. Hasara’s flight experience includes time in the KC-135, KC-10, C-141, C-130, EC-130, E-3B AWACS, F-15C, S-3B Viking, Royal Air

After leaving the Air Force, he worked for Rockwell Collins as a Systems Engineer and salesperson for seven years before retiring in 2014 to start writing his book about his many unique experiences as a tanker pilot.
