Oops! I Arted Spring Camp 2018

Bring your kids for a week of creative pursuits taught by artists in your community. This half day camp will inspire and motivate your kid(s) to be creative in new ways as they explore art through a variety of media, and create projects that are unique, fun and engaging. A snack will be provided each day. The art camp is geared towards kids from 7 through 16, with special break out projects for kids 12+.

Unleash that inner artist at an art camp taught by local artists
Monday-Friday April 2-6, 2018 9am-Noon
Ages 7-16
$125 for the week
2D and 3D work, including: mural painting, paper mosaics, jewelry making, fairy garden or dragon’s lair, leather work and more!

Classes include:

Kate Bruce will be at the camp from Monday to Thursday for a group collaboration on an art piece. It will be different then last years but equally as fun for the art camp students.

Name Hand Lettering– Create your own patterned initial letter! We’ll use various markers to create our initial with a pattern using techniques of doodling, zentangles and lettering. These will be framed and showcased at the end of the week. Taught by Hollie McKeeth

Leather Bookmark — Students will cut and create their own leather bookmark. Taught by Earl J Talbot

Glassblowing (for kids 12+) — A rare opportunity to try the art of lampworking. A type of glass blowing using a propane / oxygen fueled torch and various steel and graphite tools to shape glass. Students will have the opportunity learn to safely manipulate borosilicate (Pyrex) glass reaching temperatures of 2400 degrees F*. Taught by Mike Hurst

Natural Pigment T-shirts for 7-11 year olds–Students will be introduced to Natural Dye and Pigments on cloth. We will be using Natural dye to paint t-shirts that can be worn proudly as a work of art. We will need to get the t-shirt size upon registration. We will be using soy milk to paint and set the dye. A popular technique used in Japan for hundreds of years. Taught by Roxanne Vigos of Sago Adornment

Leather keychains — students will create their own leather keychains using a variety of stamps. Taught by Earl J Talbot

Silver ring (for kids 12+) — students will make a silver ring. Taught by 16 generation silversmith, Rene Venegas

Paper mosaics for 7-11 year olds– Learn how to make mosiac art using torn paper. Yes torn paper! Come join us as we have fun creating our own works of art.Taught by Janeal Johnson

Copper Bracelet — students will make a copper cuff bracelet. Taught by 16 generation silversmith, Rene Venegas

Mason Jar Illuminaries — students will make a fairy garden home and/or a dragon’s lair. Silhouettes will be cut out to get you started on your very own illuminary. Taught by Stephanie Howerton

We will conclude the week’s camp with an public art show from 11-12. Parents, families and friends are invited to join us for the Art Show. Refreshments will be served.
