Bountiful Pond is a man-made fishery located in the wetlands situated between Bountiful and the Great Salt Lake marshlands. With virtually no current and no need for a boat shuttle, it is a relaxing place for boaters to enjoy the sun setting in the west and the moon rising in the east. Our agenda is to put-in and paddle about enjoying a peaceful early evening float; then, as skies darken, we’ll cluster our boats together in the middle of the pond and socialize as the moon rises. Everyone is encouraged to bring boat snacks. In as much as we will be underway after dusk, everyone needs to bring and have available on their boats “an electric torch” (flashlight) per US Coast Guard Rule 25 requirements. In the past flying insects have found boaters irresistible as we exit the pond – so everyone is encouraged to dress appropriately and bring insect repellent.
Please check your equipment for serviceability and to ensure your boat is free of aquatic nuisance/invasive species. Everyone will need to wear a PFD for this event. This activity is appropriate for boating enthusiasts who can supply their own equipment and who can maneuver their boats amongst other boats. Boaters are responsible for their safety on the water. Meet Elliott by the boat ramp at Bountiful Pond at 7:00pm.
Directions: Drive Legacy Highway and exit on 500 South, then, drive the west frontage road north about 2-miles and Bountiful Pond will be on your left. We will rally in the parking lot by the concrete boat ramp. In the alternative: drive Redwood Road (SR-68) north through Woods Cross to where the road “T’s” at 500 South and turn left. Drive west on 500 South over the Legacy Highway and turn north on the west frontage road. Drive this road north approximately 2 miles. Bountiful Pond will be on the left.
