Hi Utah Outdoors,
A weekend camping trip to Arches National Park.
Date of trip: May 3rd through 5th
We are leaving on Friday night for two nights of spring camping in Southern Utah. Details discussed at pretrip meeting April 22nd 2019.
We want to emphasize the importance of PLENTY of water–especially since we’re in the desert and the campground will likely have no water. so we’ll want to make sure we have enough to stay hydrated AND to cook with. The standard desert recommendation is 1 gallon per person per day. You can pick up gallons of water at the grocery store and cook and fill up my water bottle from that water. DO NOT DEPEND ON ANYONE ELSE TO BRING YOUR WATER FOR YOU. HAVE 3 GALLONS OF WATER (per person) READY WHEN LEAVING SLC.
This might help prevent someone missing something really important.
tent sleeping bag (no sleeping bag? could use blankets/comforters)
sleeping pad (no pad? could use a foam pad or an air mattress)
cook stove and fuel
hiking snacks (lunch)
toothbrush & tooth paste
extra toilet paper
sturdy hiking shoes
fleece/warm-ish jacket for the cool nights
extra battery juice for electronics
Please post any question below, looking forward to Moab!
