‘Streetcar Named Desire’ comes to CenterPoint
CENTERVILLE — CenterPoint Legacy Theatre presents the Tennessee Williams masterpiece “A Streetcar Named Desire” beginning Friday.
The play follows the passions and problems of Stella and Stanley, a young married couple living in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the 1940s, and Stella’s sister Blanche. It stars Amanda Angerbauer as Stella, Wendy Oltmanns as Blanche, and Russell Maxfield as Stanley. Liz Christensen directs.
Performances are at 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays through Saturdays, through Feb. 2, at the theater, 525 N. 400 West, Centerville.
The play features characters making poor choices, and is not recommended for young audiences.

“School of Rock” prep show featured at Zig
OGDEN — The Zig Prep Theater, a youth program of The Ziegeld Theater, is bringing “School of Rock The Next Generation” to town.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway musical is based on the 2003 film starring Jack Black. The teenage production is directed by Morgan Parry, with music directed by Heidi Potter Hunt and choreography by Joshua Samuel Robinson.
The play opens Thursday, Jan. 17, and runs through Feb. 2 at The Ziegfeld Theater, 3934 S. Washington Blvd.
An opening night gala and performance will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17. Performances continue at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, with Saturday matinees at 2 p.m.

Sun comes up on “Annie Jr.” at OPPA
LAYTON — On Pitch Performing Arts is presenting “Annie Jr.” through Monday, Jan. 14.
Everyone’s favorite orphan takes 1930s New York City by storm in this production made entirely of children under the age of 18. The cast features Naomi Braithwaite and Saylor Vedaa as Annie. It’s directed by Charlene Adams and Caitlin Olsen.

Strut your stuff at Open Mic Night in Brigham City
BRIGHAM CITY — Open Mic Night returns to the Fine Arts Center and invites all to come and perform or listen.
The event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the center, 58 S. 100 West.
All types of music are welcome, from jazz to Broadway hits. Family-friendly performances often include comedy, poetry, ensembles and instrumental tunes. Performers are encouraged to keep their time on stage to eight to 10 minutes.
Performers can have their work put onto a compact disc for no charge.
The Open Mic Night is free for performers; a donation of $2 from non-performers is requested. Refreshments will be served.

Winter Series Rodeo to rock Golden Spike Arena
OGDEN — Utah’s top cowboys and cowgirls are scheduled to compete at the Winter Series Rodeo this weekend.
Events begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11-12, in the Golden Spike Event Center Arena, 1000 N. 1200 West. Broken Heart Rodeo Company provides the stock for the rodeo, and funnyman Sam Lively entertains the crowd.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 on the day of show. Ages 3 to 12 are $5 and $6.
