OGDEN — If January’s exhibits are any indication, 2019 will be a good year for the arts.
This year’s inaugural First Friday Art Stroll will involve a dozen venues displaying everything from highly abstract works to the realism of photography. In addition, two student art competitions will be shown at Ogden galleries.
The stroll is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, in and around downtown Ogden.
Among the galleries hosting art stroll events this month are:
Art Box, 215 Historic 25th St. — Featured artist is Melissa Flattery, who began pursuing art full time after retiring from the Air Force. DaVinci Academy of Science and the Arts, 2033 Grant Ave. — The Bi-annual Student Art Competition will be on display, featuring ceramics, drawing and painting by junior high and high school art students. Wasatch Roasting Company, 2436 Grant Ave. — Works by Lindsay Huss, who teaches high school art. Hot and cold drinks will be available, as well as cheese and crackers. In the outdoor Origin-Alley Art Gallery, new art from Rich Ramos, Nezak, Jaroh and other local artist will be on display.
