HILL AIR FORCE BASE — November’s free Plane Talk series will feature presentations by a test pilot and a technician who worked on Air Force One.

Plane Talk is offered most Saturday afternoons at the Hill Aerospace Museum, 7961 Wardleigh Road, on the northwest corner of the base.

Dan A. “Tanna” Isbell will speak at 1 p.m. Nov. 10. Tanna graduated top in his class at the USAF Test Pilot School, earning both top pilot and top academic honors, according to a news release from the museum. He was a “Top Gun,” spending more than 26 years as a fighter pilot, experimental test pilot, program manager and scientific research department head. Although he spent most of his flight-test career in the F-16, Isbell has flown more than 67 different types of aircraft.

Larry Chatland will be the speaker at 1 p.m. Nov. 17. Born in Badger, Iowa, in 1920, Chatland was a farmer before joining the Air Force in early 1952. He worked around the world for the Air Force before being stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, where he was assigned to work on Air Force One. He later served in Vietnam before moving to Hill, where he retired as a technical sergeant in 1972.

Following these two presentations, Plane Talk will take a break for the Thanksgiving weekend.
