OGDEN — Though many might say advancing technology will soon make physical media obsolete, the hundreds of thousands of music junkies celebrating National Record Store Day this Saturday, April 21, beg to differ.
Since 2008, National Record Store Day has celebrated this unique and thriving culture surrounding vinyls and the indie shops that sell them. A full list of exclusive 2018 Record Store Day releases is available at recordstoreday.com.
According to the website, there are at least 17 shops in Utah that will be participating in the festivities, including three in Northern Utah, which are listed below with event descriptions taken from their Facebook pages. (The descriptions have been lightly edited for style and clarity.)

We will be participating in the official Record Store Day celebration, including tons of exclusive limited product, free swag bags and lots of perks all day long. Everything at Lavender Vinyl will be family-friendly.
We will open at 10 a.m. We anticipate having a big line outside our shop. As always, Kaffe Mercantile will provide free coffee for those of you who decide to brave the line. Lavender Kitchen will also provide free pastries for the first 30 in line.
Our listening party begins at 2 p.m. at Lighthouse Lounge, 130 25th St. (ages 21+). Take over your RSD finds for the DJ to spin and celebrate with a custom cocktail.
We will have two raffle calls where you can win awesome prizes. We will be doing the raffles at Lighthouse Lounge. Don’t worry, we have a system in place so you can still win if you’re under 21 and are unable to be there for the actual raffle.
Entertainment for the night will be provided by EL SacredCrates, Copkid (a Marny Lion Proudfit side project) and Black Labrador.
