WSU Alumni Singers present spring show

Story - Apr 30 2011 - 12:36am

OGDEN -- The WSU Alumni Singers will serenade in the springtime flowers with a concert of songs at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Browning Center's Allred Theater on the Weber State University campus, 3848 Harrison Blvd.

The alumni singers started when the group's founder, Evelyn Harris, retired from the WSU music faculty, after leading the college's Weber State Singers for 17 years. Her former students missed singing under her guidance, and encouraged Harris to lead a new chorus with them and her current private students.

This spring's show features a wide variety of songs, such as "Bound for the Promised Land," "Lollipop," "For Good, Lean on Me," and "L-O-V-E." A feature of the concert is a pre-show appearance by the Davis County-based Hales Family bluegrass band, starting at 7 p.m. as the audience arrives.

Tickets are $4, $3 for students, seniors and those with military ID, or $20 for families of up to six members. For advance tickets and more information call the WSU box office, 800-WSU-TIKS.
