Utah theaters move 'Into the Woods'

What happens if your prince turns out to be a toad? Utah audiences will have a chance to find out as two theater companies are planning productions of "Into the Woods."

The popular Stephen Sondheim musical, which goes beyond the "happily ever after," is just one of several upcoming theater, music and dance events recently announced by performing arts groups along the Wasatch Front.

CenterPoint Legacy Theatre

CenterPoint Legacy Theatre's 2013 season features not only "Into the Woods," but also a classic comedy about a pair of well-meaning old ladies who decide to poison their gentleman callers and a musical romp through corporate America of the 1950s.

The Centerville theater's season includes "Arsenic & Old Lace" (Jan. 4-Feb. 9), "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" (March 4-30), "The Secret Garden" (April 22-May 18), "Fiddler on the Roof" (June 24-July 20), "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" (Aug. 19-Sept. 14, 2013), "Into the Woods" (Oct. 7-Nov. 2, 2013) and "White Christmas" (Nov. 29-Dec. 23, 2013).

Season tickets are $84 to $100. Renewal for current season ticket holders begins on Aug. 20. Season tickets go on sale to the general public on Oct. 8. Tickets for individual shows are $18-$21 and go on sale Jan. 1.

The theater's concert series includes "Of Thee I Sing" (Nov. 2-3,) "A Diva Holiday" (Dec. 6-10) and a premiere of "Not the Messiah" -- a concert version of "The Life of Brian" from the creators of "Spamalot" (March 29-30).

Tickets prices range from $10 to $24. Call 801-957-3322 or visit www.the-grand.org for more information.
