LAYTON -- July just got a little hotter at the Kenley Centennial Amphitheater.
Singer/songwriter Tift Merritt has signed on to open the Mary Chapin Carpenter concert. The show is at 8 p.m. July 26 at 403 N. Wasatch Drive.
The North Carolina-raised Merritt has made her mark in the singer/songwriter world with such albums as her 2002 debut "Bramble Rose" and the Grammy-nominated "Tambourine."
Author/music historian Nick Hornby talks about her song "Trouble Over Me" in his 2002 book of essays on the power of music, "31 Songs."
Tickets for the Carpenter/Merritt show are $26 to $49, and are available from the Davis Arts Council, 801-546-8575 or by going to www.davisarts.org.
