Theaters spotlighting three events

Three upcoming events broadcast in Top of Utah theaters spotlight everything from drum and bugle corps to opera to happy babies.

“Drum Corps at the Movies” features a look at six top marching units in the 2012 Drum Corps International tour as they perform at a live event in Akron, Ohio. The broadcast begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 18, and features footage recorded at a June 16 competition.

The rival corps in the presentation are the Blue Stars of Wisconsin, The Cadets of Pennsylvania, Carolina Crown of South Carolina, Bluecoats of Ohio, and Phantom Regiment and The Cavaliers, both of Illinois.

Tickets are $13 to $14 for adults, $12 to $13 for students and seniors, and $11 to $12 for children, depending on the theater visited.

“Le Comte Ory” is the next in an encore series of “The Met: Live in HD,” with Juan Diego Florez singing the title role. The opera plays at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20.

“Le Comte Ory” is a comedy written by the Italian composer Gioachino Antonio Rossini. The performance by The Metropolitan Opera is conducted by Maurizio Benini.

Admission is $6 to $14 for adults, $4 to $13 for students and seniors, and $4 to $12 for children.

• Dr. Harvey Karp presents the wisdom of his best-selling parenting guides in “Parent’s Night Out With the Happiest Baby & Happiest Toddler” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21.

Karp is a pediatrician who will share his knowledge through live demonstrations, film footage and a parent Q&A session. The theatrical event also features co-host Ali Landry, actress, mother of two and the founder of Spokesmoms.com.

Tickets are $10.50 to $14 for adults, $9.50 to $13 for students and seniors, and $8.50 to $12 for children.

All broadcasts will play at Newgate Tinseltown, 3651 Wall Ave., Ogden; Layton Tinseltown, 720 W. 1500 North; Cinemark Farmington, 900 W. Clark Lane; and Cinemark Bountiful 8, 206 S. 625 West.
