Capsule reviews, by Standard-Examiner movie critic Steve Salles, of this week's releases on DVD:
JIRO DREAMS OF SUSHI *** 1/2 (PG) Mild thematic elements and brief smoking. In Japanese with subtitles. 85-year-old Jiro Ono is a Japanese master sushi chef who has spent his life perfecting his craft. Even after all these years, he loves his work and says he can improve. It's an inspirational story of dedication that is rarely seen these days. And if you love sushi, it'll make your mouth water! 81 minutes.
THE DEEP BLUE SEA ** (R) A scene of sexuality and nudity. Rachel Weisz tries to kill herself because her lover forgot her birthday. OK. Her lover understandably wants to leave, but she spends the rest of the movie trying to get him to stay. Strange. 98 minutes.
Also being released:
SILENT HOUSE (R) Disturbing violent content and terror. Elizabeth Olsen -- sibling to the more famous Olsen twins -- stars in this horror movie about a woman alone in a spooky, dark house out in the middle of nowhere. 85 minutes.
