ANTELOPE ISLAND — On Saturday, July 21, Antelope Island State Park will host a variety of events ranging from a desert hike to a lake exploration.
• The “Deserts Are Not Deserted Hike” will begin at 10 a.m. in the visitor center parking lot. On this one-hour hike, attendees will learn about plants and animals living in the Utah desert.
• “Shrimp, Flies, Spiders and More” will be held between noon and 2 p.m. at Bridger Bay Beach. Here, you can visit with members of the Great Salt Lake Summer Camp to learn about lake life.
• A Frary homestead lecture will be offered at 10 a.m. Those interested should meet at the Frary homestead turnoff, where they can attend an informative lecture about the history of this historic island site.
• A Pioneer Day celebration will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Fielding Garr Ranch, followed by guided tours of the ranch from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The park entrance is west of Syracuse, at 4528 W. 1700 South, off Interstate 15’s Exit 332. Admission is $9 per vehicle.
