OGDEN — Three children go on a mission to save a drought-ravaged kingdom as the nonprofit youth group True North presents the play “The Quest” this week at Weber State University.
In the musical, three princesses venture on a quest to find the “heart of the world” in order to save their kingdom from a terrible drought. Each princess encounters the Trickster, who attempts to lure them off the path and away from their quest. Only one princess completes her journey.
The story is based on the children’s book “The Enchanted Wood” by Ruth Sanderson. Pamela Udy, a parent with children in the production, said the story teaches participants and audience members lessons about the importance of helping out your community, being a caretaker of the world and fulfilling a mission during their time on Earth.
True North is made up of students from Weber and Davis counties. Participants are private, charter or home-schooled children. True North theatrical productions are Christian-based.
“The Quest” will be performed at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9; Thursday, May 10; and Friday, May 11, at Weber State University’s Wildcat Theater, 3848 Harrison Blvd. This is a free event.
