The Sports Page was a popular downtown Ogden hangout on 24th Street for decades. It changed ownership over the years, and in June 2010, Lynda Huddleston became the general manager.
One year later, she closed the establishment with plans to move it to a new location. The new site, 315 24th St. and known to locals as "the old Berthana building," was the premier ballroom of its day when it was constructed in 1915.
Now, 13,000 square feet of the 20,000 square foot building has been completely remodeled to house the Copper Club, an upscale pub and concert venue opened in October 2011.
The lower level is nicknamed "The Sports Page" after its predecessor and is decked out with darts, air hockey tables, shuffleboard, pool and nine TVs.
The main level doubles as a restaurant by day and a club with live bands in the evenings and on weekends.
Every Wednesday is "steak and shrimp night," featuring a 6-ounce steak with breaded shrimp and a salad for $6. Other "signature" nights include cuisines from around the world, such as Middle Eastern, Asian and sushi.
Outdoor summer concerts are scheduled for the patio, with an alcohol-free area for underage fans to attend.
Huddleston said an expansion is planned for the upper level of the building to accommodate larger concerts.
The regular menu includes a full range of beers, wines, spirits and specialty drinks, as well as gourmet burgers ($8.50), fresh salads ($8-$9), wings in a homemade honey habanero sauce ($9.50), and sandwiches on freshly baked bread ($7-$9).
Local produce is used whenever possible. Sundays feature live music and brunch.
"Our chef is in there doing amazing dishes," Huddleston said. "It is phenomenal the food we do."
