Ogden Amphitheater show aims to help people with addictions

Comedian Marcus is one of the entertainers in a benefit on Saturday, Aug. 11, to raise money to help people with drug and alcohol addictions.

OGDEN — A day of fun, including a battle of area bands, comedy and other family fun, with proceeds going help people trying to change their lives, happens at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11.

The fundraiser event for the Shannon J Scholarship is at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 Historic 25th St. The Shannon J Scholarship was established to help people seeking affordable help for their drug/alcohol addictions.

Six bands will compete in 30-minute performances to showcase their music. All bands are from the Ogden area, and include The Wayne Hoskins Band, Vertical Overtone, Chris Aguilar and Friends, Fried Arm and Sparks Fire.

Guest appearances and other entertainment include comedian Marcus, Magic Man, Eric Wanner, Sammy T. the Clown, Miss Rodeo Utah, MOD Taekwondo, Banjaras Belly Dancers, and other surprise guests and performers. There will also be prize drawings, vendors, food and children’s activities.

The night will close with a concert by Dark Ugly Thing and Rock Salad.

Admission is $10 for wristbands for the entire day, $5 for ages 6-16; children 5 and under get in for free. Bring a nonperishable food item and get $1 off admission.
