OGDEN — Get into the Pioneer Day spirit with a screening of “The Searchers” at Peery’s Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd.

The classic 1956 Western plays at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 21. Admission is $5.

John Wayne stars in the film, playing a middle-aged veteran of the Civil War who is hunting for his niece (Natalie Wood) who was abducted by Indians.

Directed by John Ford, the movie was named the Greatest American Western of all time by the American Film Institute in 2008 and is ranked 12th on the institute’s Top 100 greatest movies of all time.

“The Searchers” was filmed in Monument Valley, located in Utah and Arizona, and in Mexican Hat, Utah, as well as in Los Angeles and Canada.
