OGDEN — Clara dances her way to the Land of Sweets and the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Castle Friday, Dec. 7, and the trip won’t take long at all.
The curtain rises on the Julie Moffitt Ballet School presentation of “The Nutcracker Ballet,” at 7 p.m. in Peery’s Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd. Encore performances are scheduled at noon and 7 p.m. Dec. 8.
Characters of the traditional holiday ballet will be portrayed by 148 dancers from the Pleasant View ballet school, ranging in age from 3 to 18.
The performances are choreographed to a shortened version of the original Tchaikovsky score, making them a good length for families with younger children.
Tickets to performances are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $7 for children age 11 and younger. There is a $2 discount on adult and child tickets for members of the military.
A Sugar Plum Fairy Tea is offered for Nutcracker fans, at 1:45 p.m. Dec. 8, after the matinee. Tickets to the party, which includes the chance to meet “Nutcracker” characters, are $7.
Tickets may be purchased through www.smithstix.com or the Peery’s Egyptian Theater box office, starting Saturday, Dec. 1. For more information, contact the ballet school at 801-786-1254.
