OGDEN — Sure, you could watch the DVD of “The Hunger Games” at home the day it is released. But wouldn’t it be more fun to see it with your friends at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 Historic 25th St., and catch a set of live rock music by Mermaid Baby before the show?
The Ogden Amphitheater is hosting both the band and the movie in a night of fun starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18.
Mermaid Baby is a power trio from Layton. The band’s sound combines a mix of pop, rock and surf music. The group won the Standard-Examiner Battle of the Bands in 2011.
“The Hunger Games,” a blockbuster when it was released last spring, tells a futuristic tale in which impoverished teenagers compete in a reality show. The grand prize? One boy and one girl get to live, having fought the losing contestants to the death. It stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.
Cost is $3 at the door. For more information, go to www.ocae.org.
