Capsule reviews, by Standard-Examiner movie critic Steve Salles, of this week's releases on DVD:
THE HUNGER GAMES *** (PG-13) Intense violent thematic material and disturbing images -- all involving teens. On the surface, this sounds like a disgusting gladiator movie involving kids. But it's much more than that if you give it a chance, which includes the creation of a dynamic and inspiring young woman worth emulating. Stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. Comes out on Saturday, Aug. 18. 142 minutes.
