Horse races and Oscar races figure into free library screenings

“Secretariat” plays at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Pleasant Valley branch.

We didn’t get a Triple Crown winner in 2012, but movie fans can relive the triumph of Secretariat — who captured horse racing’s coveted honor in 1973 — as part of the upcoming film screenings at various branches of the Weber County Library.

Admission to all movies is free.

• “The Goonies” (1985, PG) plays at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in the Ogden Valley branch, 131 S. 7400 East, Huntsville.

• “Hugo” (2011, PG) plays at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Southwest branch, 1950 W. 4800 South, Roy.

• “Secretariat” (2010, PG), part of the Animal Adventures series, plays at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Pleasant Valley branch, 5568 S. Adams Ave., Washington Terrace.

• “A Separation” (2011, PG-13), part of the Academy Award Winners series, plays at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the Pleasant Valley branch.
