SALT LAKE CITY -- Look for the animals of Hogle Zoo to be chilling out a bit this weekend during the annual Ice Block Day.

Everything from 300-pound blocks of ice to food treats frozen in ice pops will be given to creatures great and small from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14. The event is part of the zoo's enrichment program to enhance the lives and health of the animals.

Visitors can also take part in a variety of ice-themed games and contests in the Oasis Plaza at the zoo, 2600 E. Sunnyside Ave.

Folks may stay on the zoo grounds until 6:30 p.m.; the gates close at 5 p.m. Regular zoo hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Admission is $12.75 for adults and $9.75 for children and seniors. Ages 2 and younger are admitted free of charge.
