The Ben Lomond Hotel houses Restaurant 1107.

Tom Jackson and his sons, John and Eric Jackson, opened the doors to one of Ogden’s newest eating establishments — Restaurant 1107 — in March 2012, after putting in months of extensive remodel work. They were attracted to the location partly for the great views, since it’s 11 floors up in the Historic Ben Lomond Hotel.

For 30 years, Tom Jackson has been involved in the food industry, owning and operating restaurants at resorts in California. John and Eric Jackson are co-owners, but because of their careers as professional snowboarders, they spend a lot of time on the road.

Right now, the brothers are on a six-month tour filming YouTube videos in locations from Alaska to Chile.

Tom Jackson is proud of his sons’ success and said he has always been a “hands-on” owner. “I do whatever it takes. I create the menu. I enjoy cooking the food and also going out to the tables to meet the people.”

New to the area, he loves Ogden and enjoys getting to know the residents.

The menu includes some of Jackson’s favorite recipes he has collected over the years. The Cobb Salad ($9.50) is made from mixed lettuce, diced pears, smoked bacon, fresh tomato, blue cheese crumbles, hard-boiled egg, avocado, grilled chicken and fried onions.

Wraps — such as the Cranberry & Basil ($7.75), with turkey, cranberry sauce, basil, spinach, avocado, Swiss cheese and tomato; and the Chicken Caesar ($7.75) — are popular for lunch.

They also feature the 1107 Burger ($8.25) and a variety of pastas, like Chicken Marsala ($10.50) with pan-roasted chicken and a sweet marsala mushroom sauce.

For dinner, steaks such as the Ribeye ($24) and New York Strip ($25), with sautéed vegetables and choice of potato, are popular. The meat is purchased from a local farm. Using local products and being involved in the community is important to Jackson, who said he will set up a booth at the Ogden farmers market this summer.

He recommends diners finish their meal with a dessert such as the Pecan Pie ($6), Walnut Brownie a la mode ($4.50) or Lemon Crème Brulee ($6).
