WEST VALLEY CITY -- This summer, Hale Centre Theatre will be alive with the sound of music as the theater in the round is transformed into the hills of Austria and the home of the famed von Trapp Family Singers.
Based on a true story, "The Sound of Music" opens Wednesday, June 6, at the theater, 3333 S. Decker Lake Drive.
Cast members with Top of Utah connections include Hanna Gemperline of Farmington as Louisa, Abigail Edwards of Bountiful as Brigitta, Lily Carlson of North Salt Lake as Gretl, David Marsden of West Bountiful as Max Detweiler, Jessica Pearce of Farmington as Elsa Schraeder and Melissa Burke of Layton as a nun.
The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical features an iconic score, including "Climb Every Mountain," "Do Re Mi," "My Favorite Things" and "The Sound of Music." The stage version also includes a number not found in the movie, "How Can Love Survive?"
"The Sound of Music" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, June 6 to Aug. 4, with 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. matinees on Saturdays.
