Beach House opens the 2012 Twilight Concert Series with a performance on July 5.

SALT LAKE CITY -- The wildly popular Twilight Concert Series is making a few changes this year to help make the experience more comfortable for audiences and economically viable for presenters.

Concerts will now cost $5.

The series, which four years ago moved from the Gallivan Center to the roomier Pioneer Park at 400 West and 400 South, was previously free of charge. Crowds averaged 33,000 for last year's shows.

"In order to sustain success and continue making improvements to this popular event, the Salt Lake City Arts Council will now be charging a nominal admission fee of $5," said series director Casey Jarman in a press release.

Season and individual tickets will be available beginning at 10 a.m. June 1 through www.24Tix.com, as well as at all Graywhale locations.

Season tickets are $35, a $10 savings over individual ticket prices. Season ticket sales will end at midnight on June 25 to allow for mail delivery.

Individual pre-sale tickets through www.24Tix.com must be purchased at least nine days in advance to allow for mail delivery. Tickets at Graywhale locations will be sold through 5 p.m. on concert day.

Advantages to holding season and advance tickets include separate entrance lines from those purchasing at the gate. Also, at-the-gate tickets must be paid for in cash only; ATMs will be located at each entrance. Babes in arms are admitted free; all others must have a ticket.

According to organizers, seating will be first come, first served. Patrons must be present to hold a space; spots cannot be "reserved" with blankets or chairs. The area directly in front of the stage will be standing room only.

No outside alcohol is allowed, but beer and wine will be sold on-site. Pets and smoking are not permitted. Re-entry is allowed with a hand stamp.

Concerts begin at 7 p.m. Thursdays, July 5 to Aug. 30. Confirmed performers thus far for the 2012 season:
