Wilson Fong and his wife Jane Hu have worked in the restaurant industry for nearly two decades and previously owned a restaurant in Clearfield. In September, they opened Beez Café.Fong said he developed his extensive menu using some of his own recipes and some borrowed from friends.
"Most of our items are homemade," he said.
The menu features international fare, including Asian, Mexican, Italian and American comfort-food classics.
They offer a soup of the day ($2.99), with varied selections depending on the season -- such as Chicken Vegetable, Tomato Beef With Macaroni, and Chili Bean. The Beez Chicken Salad ($6.79) comes with seasoned grilled chicken breast, grilled onions and green peppers atop a bed of greens.
The Asian section of the menu includes Sweet and Sour Chicken ($6.99) and Mandarin Chicken ($6.89).
Fong said their beef is very popular. They sell more than 200 pounds per week in dishes such as the French Dip ($5.89), and the Hot Beef ($5.89), an open-faced sandwich topped with brown gravy.
Some of the featured Chef Specials are the hand-battered Country Fried Steak ($8.29), Pork Chops ($8.99) marinated in a secret recipe sauce, and the Chopped Sirloin ($7.99), sautéed with onions and mushrooms.
The popular breakfast menu is available all day.
"We always have a full house for breakfast," Fong said. Some favorites are Biscuits and Homemade Gravy ($4.79), served with eggs and choice of meat; or Strawberry or Blueberry Pancakes ($5.39).
Fong also recommends the Pork Chop and Eggs ($6.99), and the Beez Country Platter ($6.49), with made-from-scratch hash browns, choice of meat and cheese, green peppers, onions and mushrooms, smothered in gravy and topped with two eggs.
He is also proud to offer more than 20 combinations of omelets ($5.99). "Our prices are very reasonable," Fong said.
