ANTELOPE ISLAND — Go hunting for scorpions or brine shrimp during three programs in the upcoming week at Antelope Island State Park.
• “Earliest Settlers” takes a look at the first inhabitants of the island at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7. The Junior Ranger program at the Fielding Garr Ranch is designed for ages 6-12, but everyone is welcome.
• “Brine Shrimp and Sand” allows visitors to look through microscopes and find out what lives in the Great Salt Lake. The program runs from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, and July 14 and 28, at Bridger Bay Beach.
• “Scorpion Search” will feature information about the habits and habitats of scorpions at 8:30 p.m. July 13, in the visitor center amphitheater. Park employee Dan Richards leads the program and then takes participants on a walk to look for the tiny arthropods.
The park is located west of Syracuse off Interstate 15’s Exit 332. Admission is $9 per vehicle.
