Red Cross in need of 450 volunteers for fire alarm installation in Ogden

Helpers are needed for an effort to install 1,000 smoke detectors in an inner-city Ogden area known to be most at risk for fires. The alarms will be free to the residents in the area and will potentially save lives in areas where families have difficulty financing smoke detectors.

A March 21 email from Convergys Corporate Communications Director Ed Loyd said that up to 209 workers could be affected by the Ogden closure. The company is consolidating its Utah call centers; Salt Lake City and Logan will continue to operate.
