Christian Science Thanksgiving Service
November 23 @ 11 am - 12 pm
All of our Sunday and Wednesday services are open to the public, but every Thanksgiving, we also hold a special service of gratitude to God for our religious freedom – along with all Christian Science branch churches throughout our nation. The Ogden branch church has held these services in Ogden for over 100 years. Our membership is inviting the public to come and honor our country for protecting everyone’s God-given rights.
The Declaration of Independence clearly states:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
And in the Bill of Rights the first amendment guarantees our right to religious freedom written below:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”
Our Thanksgiving service includes time to give thanks to God for all the blessings our country has, and for the good our country has accomplished for its own citizens and the citizens of the world. To give gratitude for the founders of our great nation, the imperfections of these men did not stop them from willingly fight for and to die for these divine ideals. The service provides a moment to openly acknowledge every generation of men and women who followed in their footsteps. To recognize, through our civil war, the essential correction in abolishing slavery which again proclaimed and united us as one nation under God proving all men are truly equal. We welcome all who wish to unite in honoring our flag for which it stands, and those serving in our armed forces, and those serving the public by providing true freedom and justice for all through upholding our laws. Join us in expressing our own individual rights that allow us to be free from all wrong, through the healing grace of God, and living a genuine Christianity that adheres to the laws of God.
This Thanksgiving service is being held, Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at 11 am. The President’s Proclamation for Thanksgiving Day will be read, there will also be readings from our Pastor, The Holy Bible (KJV) and Science Health Key to the Scriptures. There will be a moment of silent prayer followed in unison with the audible “Lord’s Prayer”. Then the service will be open to share one’s gratitude.
