In a rare move, North Dakota center Carson Shanks is returning to the school he previously left — Utah State.

The 7-footer announced Friday on Instagram he is returning to Utah State for his senior year as a graduate transfer. By pursuing a master’s degree not available at UND, he’s immediately eligible to play in the 2017-18 season.

Shanks attended Utah State for one semester in 2013 and transferred mid-season to UND. Over two and a half seasons, he averaged 5.6 points, three rebounds and one block in 15.4 minutes per game.

He is currently slated to be one of only two seniors for the Aggies next season.
