SYRACUSE — A 14-year-old Syracuse boy has died from injuries after he was hit by two cars Monday night, police said.

Syracuse Police Det. Erin Behm said Dakota Kilburn was walking in a crosswalk near Syracuse Junior High at about 8:30 p.m. Monday when he was hit by a car traveling in the southbound lane.

The impact threw the boy into the northbound lanes of traffic where he was hit again and pinned under the second vehicle. Witnesses helped lift the car off the boy, she said.

Kilburn was flown to the hospital by helicopter in critical condition Monday night. Both drivers stayed on scene and are cooperating with the investigation, Behm said.

Davis School District spokesman Chris Williams said Kilburn was a student at Syracuse Junior High but did not know if he was coming or going from the school.

A GoFundMe page has been started by Kilburn’s family to help pay for funeral expenses.
