Celebrate Earth Day with green events in Northern Utah

OGDEN EARTH DAY TRASH BASH 

A trash cleanup effort organized for greater impact. Two locations will be used as starting points. At DaVinci Academy of Science and the Arts, students will hand out bags and gloves for cleaning up the Ogden River Parkway. For those wishing to pick up the downtown area, meet at The Local Artisan Collective. The first volunteers to arrive will receive a Bloom Recyclers t-shirt. The last 50 volunteers standing will get a free slice of pizza. Pizza is only for those who helped to clean, posted a pic of their clean up crew to the Facebook event page and then meet up at Lucky Slice with their raffle ticket.

FAMILY YOGA AND SEED PLANTING

Bring the kids for a seed planting activity followed by family yoga practice to celebrate the theme “how to be one with nature.”

GAIA RISING 

An evening of poetry and dance to celebrate Earth Day and the arrival of spring and renewal with local Ogden poets, contemporary dance, African dance, belly dance and Argentine tango. Featuring special guest Trisha McBride and Ogden's first Poet Laureate, Brad Roghaar.

EARTH DAY

Celebrate Earth Day the Natural Grocers way. Receive a free reusable shopping bag, plant a seed to take home for your garden and look out for a tasting station to try out some favorites.

BIRDSONG TRAIL WORK DAY

Over the Rainbow and through the woods is Birdsong Trail. This short trail, an Ogden classic, is in need of maintenance. Morning refreshments and tools will be provided. Please bring your own work gloves. A trail director will be on hand to guide volunteers.

EARTH DAY CLEANUP

Help LUV Ogden show some love to the planet on Earth Day. We'll be cleaning up along the river parkway to keep it looking beautiful through spring. Please bring a garbage bag, gloves and a few friends.

EARTH DAY AT SAVERS

Visit Habitat for Humanity’s booth at Ogden Savers where you can learn how ReStore keeps items from the dumps and helps the earth.

STEAMPUNK NERF GUN UPCYCLE CLASS

Learn a fun way to upcycle old nerf guns into awesome steampunk works of art that are also Salt Lake Comicon safe and within regulations for toy guns in the state. We will be learning painting techniques to take it from plastic to metal looking in hours, best glue to use depending on your materials. How to secure and enable all moving parts.

EARTH DAY YOGA AND CLEANUP

Join ambassadors Shawnee and Charlotte for some Earth Day cleanup fun in the park. We put together a short guided meditation and yoga flow to celebrate this amazing day, then we will be showing some deep love for nature by doing a little cleanup. We will supply the bags, but we urge you to bring some gloves.

EARTH DAY CLEANUP WITH THE FRONT

Grab your friends and family and help us with graffiti removal and rehabilitating the Castle Rock scar. A waiver will need to be signed by each participant the morning of and will need a parent or legal guardian signature for anyone under the age of 18.

EARTH DAY AT OGDEN NATURE CENTER

Enjoy earth friendly exhibitors, demonstrations, entertainment, food, nature crafts, and fun activities. Explore the trails, tour our green buildings and learn what you can do to improve the health of the planet. All proceeds benefit the mission of the Ogden Nature Center: to unite people with nature and nurture appreciation and stewardship of the environment.

11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, Ogden Nature Center, 966 W. 12th St., Ogden. $4. 

SUPERPLANTS TO THE RESCUE

Celebrate Earth Day by learning what would happen if all the plants disappeared. Pot a seed to take home to plant in your garden. All supplies will be provided. Free packets of live ladybugs will be available during operating hours.
