Delton L. Stanger was born in his great-uncle's house in Marriott, Utah, now Marriott-Slaterville, on April 11, 1927, to proud parents, Lloyd and Edna Olson Stanger. He grew up on a farm in Slaterville, Utah.
Delton was educated in Weber County public schools and graduated from Weber High School with the class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army Occupation Forces in Europe at the end of WWII.
He married Velma Beesley on October 8, 1947, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Ogden for seven years then moved to Sunset, where they lived for 52 years and raised three great sons: Craig, Stuart and Kirt. Craig now lives in Roy; Kirt (Debbie) in Marriott-Slaterville; and Stuart (Laura) in Vancouver, Washington State.
Due to health problems, Velma and Delton moved back to Ogden where they have lived for the past 11 years. Velma recently celebrated her 88th birthday. An immediate family get-together will be held to celebrate both birthdays and 69 1/2 years of marriage at the George Wahlen Home for Veterans on April 15, 2017, where Velma is a resident.
