Happy 50th Anniversary!: Robert and Claudia McNair

Robert and Claudia Jardine McNair will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 6, 2017 with a family trip to St. George, and later, an Alaskan Cruise.

Robert was born in Wolverhampton, England, the younger of two sons, to Alexander Sneddon and Violet Lloyd McNair. In 1955, he immigrated to Ogden with his parents and brother. He attended Madison Elementary, West Ogden Elementary, Central Junior High, and graduated from Ogden High School, Class of 1965. Robert received a BFA, Magna Cum Laude in Architecture from the University of Utah, Class of 1971.

Claudia was born at St. Benedict's Hospital in Ogden to Claude Barton and Lucile Broadhead Jardine and was raised on the Jardine pioneer farm in Taylor, still in the family today. She is the oldest of three, with two younger brothers. She attended West Weber Elementary, Wahlquist Junior High, and graduated from Weber High School, Class of 1965. Claudia received a BA, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, Class of 1976.

Robert and Claudia left Utah in 1971 spending a year in Ann Arbor, Michigan followed by 35 years in Boston, Massachusetts. Robert concluded his award winning 35-year architectural career as Principal and Senior Vice President of the 250-person Architectural/Engineering firm, SMMA, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Claudia's 25-year career in Human Resource Management concluded as Executive Director, Human Resources at Indevus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Lexington, Massachusetts. She worked at Harvard University during the emerging years of genetic engineering technology. Her HR career included working at biotechnology and biopharmaceutical companies and starting the HR Department at the first US laser refractive surgery company to receive FDA approval.

Robert and Claudia are long-time Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fans. Their retirement favorites include family, Ogden Symphony, Ogden Mustangs, Ogden Raptors, Snow Basin skiing, traveling, hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Their daughter, Kristen Manon McNair Hopper and grandson, Gawain Freedom Robert Hopper, live in Boise, Idaho.
