OGDEN — Spike 150 and the Ogden Heritage Festival are soon upon us, and local residents should take note.
A number of roads in Ogden will be closed to accommodate the large number of people expected to be in the area, and shuttles will be running to alleviate parking issues.
Volunteers are in heavy demand for the festival as well.
Transportation and Parking
Downtown roads will be closed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting Thursday, May 9 and continuing through Saturday, May 11. Wall Avenue will be closed from 23rd Street to 28th Street during those times. Historic 25th Street will be closed from Wall Avenue to Grant Avenue, according to Ogden City.
If you are looking to avoid the downtown congestion, the city will have numerous parking locations around the city where buses will shuttle people downtown. Shuttles will pick up passengers every 30 minutes.
Shuttle locations will be found at the Newgate Mall, Ogden Rodeo Grounds, the Fred Meyer parking lot near 12th Street and Wall Avenue, the Junction parking garages and the Dee Event Center.
There will also be a designated pick up and drop off area for those who elect to use Uber or Lyft.

Volunteers
A large event such as this requires a number of volunteers, and many of those positions are still open. For Spike 150 and the Ogden Heritage Festival, roughly 1,000 volunteers are needed.
As of Monday, roughly half of those volunteer positions were open, according to Visit Ogden CEO Sara Toliver.
Types of volunteer jobs available vary from manual labor positions of setting up and tearing down events, to being stationed in the Union Station Museum, making sure the displays are being treated as they should be, Toliver said. Volunteers will also be needed to monitor parking lots and ensure people get to where they need to be.
“We have just about every realm of volunteer positions available,” Toliver said.
