Northern Utah Youth Symphony and Chamber Orchestras to perform at Ogden High

OGDEN — Nothing like a little Beethoven in the afternoon.

The Northern Utah Youth Symphony and Chamber Orchestras will present their first concert of the 2018-19 season with a 3 p.m. concert Saturday, Nov. 17, in the Ogden High School Auditorium, 2828 Harrison Blvd.

The concert will open with the all-strings Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Nathan West. The orchestra will perform arrangements of the Allegro from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, “Jupiter” from Gustav Holst’s “The Planets,” and “German Dance” by Mozart.

The Youth Symphony will then perform Schubert’s “Rosamunde Overture,” Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 2, and Vaughan-Williams’ “Fantasia on Greensleeves.” The symphony is conducted by Conrad Dunn.

Also on the program will be Tyler Morgan, performing the Andante from Bottesini’s Bass Concerto No. 2. Morgan is a junior at Logan High School and is the principal bass player for the Logan Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also the principal bass player for the Northern Utah Youth Symphony.

Admission to the afternoon concert is free.
