The Corn Maize opens for 5th year of fall fun in West Haven

WEST HAVEN — The weather might be getting cooler and the leaves might be changing colors, but nothing quite says fall like a corn maze.

The Corn Maize in West Haven opened for its fifth year of fall fun Friday evening.

"We’ve just been growing every year. We expect to do pretty well this year," said Denise Smith, one of managers of The Corn Maize. "There’s something to do for everybody. There’s a lot more than just the corn maze."

Featuring nine acres of maze, plus an additional acre of a haunted maze on the weekends, The Corn Maize also has a pumpkin patch with 23 varieties of pumpkins, a zip line, hay slide, and a nightly light show — among other attractions.

Each year, the maze is cut using GPS when the corn is about a foot tall, Smith said. Guests can navigate through the maze through a GPS option on the website.

The maze, located at 2801 S. 3500 West, is open Monday through Thursday from 4-9 p.m., 4-11 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is $8 per person.

For those looking for a scarier time, The Haunted Maize, featuring zombie laser tag, is open from 8-11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is $15 for the haunt.
