Events in Utah this weekend include Snowbird Oktoberfest, crawfish boil, more

Even though the school year has started, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the final weeks of summer in Northern Utah.

Here are just a few events going on around the state this weekend for you and your family.

Cajun Crawfish Boil

Do you like Cajun, Creole crawfish? Then grab your bib and head on over to Earl’s Lodge at Snowbasin for a Seafood Boil at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The family-style backyard boil will feature southern favorites like shrimp, clams, mussels, corn-on-the-cob and much more. You won’t want to miss this treat for the whole family!

Speed Skating Long Track Desert Classic

Test out your speed skating skills this weekend at the Long Track Desert Classic at the Utah Olympic Oval in Salt Lake City. Whether you’re a seasoned speed skater or a newbie looking to get into a new sport, this event will allow the whole family to try something new. This festival is a day-long event that promotes local businesses, artists, craftsman and musicians. Stop by the Gateway this Saturday and sample the best that Utah has to offer. Sample local products like cosmetics, jewelry, pet products and more. Taste some locally made foods like cheese, salsa, pastries and much more. Bring the whole family, including your dog, to this event.

When: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26

Snowbird’s Oktoberfest

Grab your lederhosen and get your stein ready! Snowbird is once again hosting its Oktoberfest celebration every Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 15, including on Labor Day. Named one of the top Oktoberfests in the country, this event has something for the whole family. While mom and dad visit the biergarten, the kids can get their faces painted and try authentic Bavarian food.

When: noon to 6:30 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday until Oct. 15

Where: Snowbird Resort, 9385 S. Snowbird Center Drive, Snowbird

Trash Car Racing

Why not add a racing element to a classic demolition derby? Trash Car Racing is fun for the whole family and includes more than just cars. Power wheel, dirt bike and ATV races will take place as well. Food will be available at the event. Gates open at 5 p.m., and time trials begin at 5:30 p.m.

When: 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26

Where: Cache County Fairgrounds, 500 S. 500 West, Logan

Yoga on The Plaza

Back by popular demand, Yoga on The Plaza will continue through August. Start your Sunday morning with relaxation while you take part in a free yoga class at The Gateway in Salt Lake City. This event is free and open to all levels of yoga enthusiasts. Music will be provided by a live D.J.

When: 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27

Steve Martin and Martin Short Live at the Eccles

Comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short will perform a one-night-only show Sunday at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City. The duo will be joined by Steve Martin’s Grammy-award winning Bluegrass band, Steep Canyon Rangers, which features the original “Wild and Crazy Guy” picking the banjo for the group.
